Valid presents solutions for digital certification and traceability for medications Back
The traceability of medications, a technology that could put an end to the falsification of medicines and to the diversion of shipments – which generates informal points of sale – as well as to other problems affecting patient security and the integrity of laboratories’ and pharmacies’ brands, will be one of the highlights at the II Seminar: Secure Printed Material - Innovations, Technologies and the Fight against Crime, which will take place on September 23 in Sao Paulo.
The topic will be presented by Valid, a Brazilian company and the seminar’s sponsor, who has a global presence in the areas of Telecom, Identity Solutions, Payment Solutions, Digital Certification and Digital Marketing,. During the event, the company will demonstrate VALID SIGMA, a specific solution for the field of medications. The technology includes components such as printing of a two-dimensional code – the Unique Medication Identifier (UMI) – and a repository system used by industries and by the Brazilian National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa).
This two-dimensional code, also known as a “seal”, will allow the medication’s trajectory to be monitored, from when it leaves the plant to when it arrives at the pharmacies. According to an Anvisa regulation, by 2016, all of the nearly 450 medications industries headquartered in Brazil, plus international laboratories that export to Brazil, will need to implement tracing systems for their products.
“The technology is able to ensure that the medication is genuine, and allows it to be traced. In addition, the tracing technology can rapidly identify and remove from the market batches of products that may have quality problems,” explains Mário Nakaharada, Valid’s Traceability Solutions Manager.
The seminar, whose objective is to present the main security components and technologies available on the market, will also be an opportunity for Valid Digital Certification to present new advancements in the sector, such as the management of qualified digital certificates on mobile devices (smartphones and tablets), thanks to VALID Credentials.
