Technology enhances security for the new Brazilian driver’s license Back
The CNHs (Brazilian driver’s licenses) issued since January 2 now have new colors and security features to prevent falsification. The changes instituted by the National Transportation Council (Contran), the regulatory body for Brazilian transportation, are part of the documents’ constant process of modernization. Valid, global supplier of secure customized solutions, is responsible for the issue of the licenses in thirteen Brazilian states
One of the main changes is the replacement of the greenish-blue ink for the stripe in intaglio (cylindrical chalcography) on the top and side of the document, with black ink. The print is still embossed, and the right side will show the map of the issuing state.
On the top part of the left side, under the coat of arms of Brazil, the image of the map of Brazil will now be printed with special security ink, in order to prevent falsification.
Starting in May 2017, the document will also have a QR code (Quick Response Code). The 2D barcode will link the CNH directly to the National Registry of Licensed Drivers (Renach), without needing to input information.
Valid produces around 1.2 million CNHs per month in Brazil. The company handles all stages of the integrated process for secure document issue, including the generation of computerized systems for the administration of databases, and the gathering biometric data (photo, signature and digital prints) of citizens, all the way up to the delivery of official identification documents.
In the area of identification, Valid also provides services to identification institutes (the Integrated Solution for the Issue of Identification Cards), secretariats and class associations (professional identification cards), notary’s offices (seals), universities (diplomas), the Ministry of Labor (Labor and Social Security Card (CPTS)), and the Federal Police (Foreigners’ Registry (RNE)).
